At Envisage IT we understand that many companies have budgeted for new Cisco equipment and have not considered installing used Cisco routers or used Cisco switches and stick to that decision purely because they have no experience of refurbished Cisco equipment.

It is also apparent that part of this decision seems to be made because it’s not their money and if they make the wrong decision it could cost them their job. We understand this initial fear of the unknown for equipment that has moving parts but cannot understand this fear when talking about interface cards that have no moving parts. We also find it strange that anyone would install new interface cards into equipment that is 12 months or more old. It seems much wiser to install modules that have proven to be reliable and have gone through the “burn in” process and also take advantage of the savings to be had at the same time.
